The BE Group of Companies has signed an agreement with COREnergy, the retail electricity arm of Vivant Energy, to supply and manage power for its Mabuhay Towers in Cebu Business Park and Cebu IT Park.
The towers are located in two of Cebu’s busiest business districts, where demand for reliable and cost-efficient power continues to grow alongside the expansion of the IT-BPM sector.
Under the deal, COREnergy will help Mabuhay Towers manage energy consumption more strategically through the retail electricity supply framework, giving the properties better cost predictability and flexibility.
The partnership comes ahead of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s planned lowering of the contestability threshold to 100 kilowatts by June 2026, which is expected to allow more commercial establishments to choose their electricity supplier.
Grand Benedicto, president and CEO of The BE Group, said the company wanted a partner that understands Cebu’s growth and can support its long-term developments.
“As a homegrown company, we want to work with partners who understand the kind of growth we envision to build for Cebu. COREnergy has the technical capacity in retail electricity supply and the same level of commitment to Cebu’s progress. That gives us confidence that this partnership will help us manage energy more strategically while supporting our developments in the long-term,” Benedicto said.
COREnergy sales head Marko Sarmiento said businesses are increasingly treating power as a tool for managing costs, improving performance and planning for scale.
The deal highlights how Cebu property owners are reassessing energy strategies as business districts become more dependent on round-the-clock operations.
